What is a deepfake and how does TrueFace detect it?
A deepfake is a photo or video where a person's face has been synthesized or swapped by AI. TrueFace analyzes frequency artifacts, GAN inversion error, face-swap seams and filter traces per face, then returns a probability score with the underlying signals — not a binary verdict.
Can TrueFace tell if a photo is AI-generated?
Yes. TrueFace scores each face for AI-generated likelihood using forensic signals that diffusion models and GANs leave behind (over-smoothed high frequencies, periodic artifacts, low-error GAN inversion). Heavily recompressed images are reported with lower confidence.
Does TrueFace detect beauty filters and retouching?
Yes. Beauty filters leave measurable traces — abnormally low skin-texture variance, distorted local geometry around jaw and nose, and symmetry above the natural human range. TrueFace measures these per face, so a group photo with only one filtered person is flagged correctly.
Is TrueFace free to use?
Yes. Anyone can run deepfake and AI-image scans for free. Premium plans add higher quotas, forensic report exports and priority processing for professional and enterprise workflows.
Is my photo stored or shared?
No. Scans run on encrypted infrastructure, images are processed in-memory and are not sold or shared with third parties. TrueFace is GDPR compliant and privacy-first by design.
